The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Arrives, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.

The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the outer limits of the universe. There, he will encounter a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Classic Games

Similar to the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The film will feature once again of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.

The company has three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
